The Centre de Recerca per a l’Educació Científica i Matemàtica (CRECIM) is a Research Centre of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, located in the Facultat de Ciències de l’Educació. Created in 2002 from the Grup de Recerca TIREC (Tecnologia Informàtica i Recerca Educativa), at the center involved researchers specializing in teaching science, mathematics and technology, as well as researchers in training and technical support for research. We also collaborate with in-service science teachers from different schools in Catalonia, as well as other external researchers linked to UAB.

Through educational research, teaching innovation and the provision of assessment services and advice to educational initiatives in the field STEM (acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) public and private, CRECIM works to improve, strengthen and enrich the teaching and learning of STEM disciplines. Within this scope, the main lines of work of CRECIM are those related to the role of computer tools in science education, the role of scientific practice at school, fostering interest in STEM disciplines, the development of creative methodologies type maker and tinkering or the promotion of educational equity in STEM disciplines.

At the same time, from the CRECIM also work in supporting teachers from many initiatives for teaching innovation and knowledge transfer in didactic teaching practice. Among these initiatives highlight the group of teachers DIATIC, laboratory digitized for high school students REVIR, the Revista Ciències, magazine for science teachers of kindergarten, primary and secondary, courses and training seminars for teachers or dissemination work and scientific communication through social networks.
