The main educational innovation channels of CRECIM are:
Teacher education. By cooperating with different educational institutions, the CRECIM has designed and implemented diverse courses and other educational activities aimed at both in-service teachers and students of primary and secondary education. Moreover, most of the Centre researchers are teaching in pre-service teacher education courses, both for primary and secondary education levels. Within this teacher education line, it has to be highlighted the DIATIC (Design and Implementation of TICs) a community of practice that provides a space for exchanging experiences and knowledge between secondary education science teachers and researchers in the field of STEM education.
Educational research transfer. As a result of the knowledge generated thanks to the educational research activity, some educational innovations have been designed and are being implemented by the CRECIM. Two examples are: i) the REVIR initiative -a set of experimental science workshops carried out in a computerized laboratory of UAB and offered to high schools during school hours which has already count on the participation of more than 15.000 students; ii) the Prat de la Riba project – where school-STEM workplaces partnership activities have engaged at local level more than 1.000 students and more 20 industries during the last years in problem-based projects in the field of design and technology.
Educational resources. With the aim of disseminating its knowledge and seeking to create a network of active teachers, the CRECIM publishes its Ciències Mgazine, an open access addressed to teachers of childhood, primary and secondary education interested in science teaching and learning. This magazine aims to be a space to discuss and reflect on the teaching and learning of sciences, to present resources and classroom experiences and to share and exchange with community initiatives and best practices.
